India Buildings, Liverpool

The Crossway Scaffolding team are currently providing a full external scaffold and two large lightwell areas to enable the refurbishment of India Buildings on Water Street, Liverpool.

It is proving to be one of the most challenging and diverse projects we have undertaken. Some of the challenges faced are:

  • A city centre location
  • Grade II listed building
  • Weakness in the structure

These have been overcome and the entire team involved have demonstrated initiative, hard work and dedication to deliver a first class service, which was rewarded when Crossway received an award for “Best Health and Safety Performance – 2018” from our client Styles and Wood part of the Extentia Group.

India Buildings was originally built between 1924 & 1932 by the shipping firm of Richard Durning Holt and Alfred Holt and Company. A shopping arcade runs through the centre of the building, with offices on all floors. HMRC will lease ten floors of the building to house a new Regional Centre. Around 3,500 HMRC staff are expected to start moving into the building during 2019.
